She's Up!

I was taking care of some emails this morning and when I turned around I saw Lolo standing tall and very proud at the girls kitchen set! She has been pushing herself up on a very small stool for about 4 days but has finally been able to get herself up much higher. It is fun to see her learning or trying something new. Aubrey has learned that with the help of a chair, stool or upside down trash can that she can climb onto the counters - but that is another story for a different day. Of course when Aubrey sees the camera she wants to get in the picture as well! I love my girls!

Neuschwanstein Castle

Bird houses attached to the side of a house! I loved it!

Valentines Day weekend we traveled down to Fussen, Germany so we could go tour Neuschwanstein Castle. The drive was beautiful but nothing really prepared me for the beauty of the area. The mountains were grand, covered in snow and the towns were cute.

Hohenschwangau Castle - King Ludwigs boyhood home

Neuschwanstein Castle

The castles were amazingly gorgeous with the mountains as the backdrop. We took a horse carriage up to the castle and the view from up there was breathtaking, one could easily see why King Ludwig wanted to build his Neuschwanstein Castle there. The tour was short (30 minutes) but informative. The castle's interior was never completed as King Ludwig was mysteriously found dead in a lake near Munich and the construction was halted. We were not allowed to photograph anything inside the castle but it wasn't quite what I had been expecting. I would say it was simple but ornate at the same time. The attention to detail in many things was amazing, the carving in the woodwork, the mosaic tile floor in the chapel. I guess since it was never finished I can't say how grand the castle would have been.

View from Hotel Kurcafe at dusk

James found a very cute hotel for us, Hotel Kurcafe in Fussen. The room was nice and we had a view of the mountains and Fussen Castle from our room. We loved that we could walk right down into a nice restaurant and have a delicious dinner without having to get dressed up or put our jackets on. It wasn't crowded at all because we were there on a Sunday night and there were only a couple groups in the dining room.

It was an amazing weekend and I had a great time. This weekend James is taking us to the Black Forest so please stop by next week and look for some new photos.

Beautiful

I completed this scrapbook page the other day and I will admit while very simple I just love it. It really lets the pictures shine on their own. I called it my shabby chic layout because it reminded me of the Shabby Chic section at Target (I am so not sure if they even have that anymore). I have gone crazy with my Threading Water punch by Fiskars and have been trying not to use it on every page I do because I don't want to look back in 10 years and ask what was I thinking. I use it on alot of stuff though and I love the layered look I did on this page. Let me know what ya think.

I finally did it!

I am finally setting up my blog! I have been thinking of doing this for many months now but just decided to sit down here and get started. I will be posting updates on the Gibson family, pictures of my girls and our travels and occasionally some scrapbooking things as well. My hope is that my family and friends will have the access to our going ons at their convenience and I love sharing our travel pictures with everyone. Please check back often as I get this started and start adding pictures and stories. Thanks for stopping by.
